The Akamai network consists of over 20,000 servers in 71 countries and specialise in audio/video content delivery in a variety of formats. This means that iSiteTV content can be served from a server closest the consumer reducing the lag, and the number hops the data must go through to get from server to consumer.
All iSiteTV media players, videos, and digital assets are held on the Akamai global network system in two major net storage areas, one covering Europe, and the other covering the United States. These storage area feed into thousands of high speed delivery servers that channel content to local servers nearest the consumer on demand. This ensures the network delivery aspect is optimised for fast delivery and provides a very high level of redundancy, both in terms of storage and connectivity.
